The Week in Knavery and Friday Night Groove
Had the chance to catch a belly dance showcase at a Russian supper club in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Fun place and a great show (hard to go wrong when the acts include the likes of the Bad Ass Tribal Chicks). Post with video is here: [link] .
If you missed the Friday Night Groove you can easily turn it into the Sunday Dance Party with Im Nin'Alu by Ofra Haza. I've added a bonus track to round off the week: [link]
An Artist's View of Conventions
Artist, writer, and Assassin's Creed obsessive Angela Sasser =AngelaSasser filed an insightful dispatch this week on the Pros and Cons (ha, get it?) of conventions as a selling venue for artists. Angela draws on her 10+ years of showing/selling at conventions for her article; well worth the read: [link]
Stock Usage Spotlight -
Sometimes when you're attempting to produce a photo reference you have a very specific image in your head of the end product that you wish the stock photo would be used for. Many of the talented stock artists here on dA are able to produce that final image themselves. Unfortunately, I am not one of them.
Which is why I was so excited (and stunned) when I saw ~cdragon1980's image using one of my F2 images from last year. His image was literally EXACTLY what I had in my mind as I was setting up that particular photo ref. Here's that image (the top one), along with a couple more examples of his work.
On The Horizon
- Looks like there is interest enough to justify a new round of Stock Charades, so that will be coming up in the very near future. As I mentioned in the poll this will be a championship round, so don't expect easy pickings, like me dressed up as Mary Poppins.
- The first installment of the new season of what used to be called Take:10 should be starting up next weekend. Same format (informal chats over coffee with all sorts of creative cats), but with a new name; now it's called Roulette (I'm sure you get it). And the first guest is...a secret.
More soon.

The rule of thumb with my stock is: (Almost) No Rules. Do whatever non-commercial thing you want with them. If you need them to help you make a little dough that's great, just contact me so we can work something out. Thank you.
