Eight years ago (almost to the day) I did something I never thought I would willfully do. I stepped in front of a still camera.
I had been inspired by a small group of people who were doing something I had not realized ANYONE did back then; they were providing references for other artists to use in the creation of beautiful, wonderful, exciting new works of art. They were contributing to the creative processes of artists of all skill levels in, literally, every corner of the world. I thought then (and I still do) that the concept was one of the most fantastic things I had heard of.
I'm still not sure why I decided to take that picture (the one below), other than hoping that I might be able to give a little something back to the visual artists who had inspired me for so much of my life.
Eight years later; same shirt and same knife (two of my dearest possessions, many stories attached to both), but a fairly different me.
Mainly, I just wanted to take a minute to say 'Thank You' to every one of you. You all have taught me so much. About creativity and collaboration and technique, certainly, but much more importantly about friendship and support and community. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you all, and for that I will always be very grateful.
So here's to another eight! (Sixteen? Hmmm, might be pushing it. Not sure I'll be able to fall on my head as much. But I guess I could take shuffleboard shots). Can't wait to see what you guys create in the years to come.
Congratulations! I don't go on DA as often as I did anymore, and I don't really recall how it was that I found you, but! I'm glad that I did! Browsing though your gallery is inspiring, and with the smart quips and interesting stories that are attached to some of them, it's almost like an illustrated book! I hope you'll stay in awesome condition (in every sense of the word, and in every possible way, shape or form) to continue what it is you love, and to inspire others, of course!
This photo was taken 2 days before my birthday. Awesomesauce, and such.
8 years is definitely an amazing run, and I definitely hope I get to watch you for another 8. Since you're still a relatively recent find of mine, in my eyes, ya know? You're an amazing photographer, model, and person, from what I can tell. ^^
And even though I've never finished a single one of the projects I'd started, using yours and/or my (everyone's?) favourite female stock artist's photos, I can say that you're also quite a muse! (awkward. I realized I was about to type something sentimental and feely, and then it kinda slipped my mind and went out the window. LoL) All artists (except for the superhuman/inhuman ones?) have their muse. You have been my muse on a good number of occasions. One day, I hope to finish one of my WIPs and get it out here, to pay my homage.
So, thank you for being amazing! Here's to the next 8! *raises glass*
