:iconmelancholic-symphony: ~ =Melancholic-Symphony for the win!

She's been swingin' like a champ in all the previous rounds and I know she's about as competitive as a Gypsy knife fighter, so we were very happy to see =Melancholic-Symphony pop up ALMOST INSTANTLY with the right answer. I hope she is not so competitive that she would hack into our ultra-secure office computer network... Hmmm. :D

Now it's a four-way tie for #1 - who will jump out ahead?

Check out the side-by-side comparison for this one (and all the other charade images) here: [link]

The leader board stands at:

:iconnisori: ~ 1 win | :iconsimplexkitten: ~ 1 win

:iconnikashainiquitous: ~ 1 win | :iconmelancholic-symphony: ~ 1 Win

More soon.

================================

The full title being: "Stock Charades - Special Shadowrun 20th Anniversary Edition - Image 4"

Hello, Comrades. That's right, it's time for Round 4! The special rule for Round 4 is that *Lindowyn and certain members of her crewe cannot play this round (as they would have an unfair advantage ;-) )

This is the 4th image from a new round of Stock Charades; namely a special edition inspired by the 20th anniversary of Shadowrun.

Even though I know almost nothing about video games and have literally no time for pen and paper RPGs anymore, I will always dig the unique concept, wacky frameworld and striking visual style of the Shadowrun universe. I suppose it is this last that I have always enjoyed most; the wonderfully dark and disparate design aesthetic that such an 'eclectic' universe has spawned.

So, in honour of the game's long run and its fantastic graphic style, this special series of Stock Charades will be based on iconic images from the history of Shadowrun. The images in questions may come from any medium or product (core books and supplements, the video game, posters, fiction, etc.). I'll be posting these as I have time over the course of the rest of the year, so keep an eye out for your chance to show everyone that you know more about illustrations of Matrix-running, pistol-packing, drone-piloting Elves than is probably good for you.

If you happen to know this image I think you'll get it right off. Of course, the opposite is probably true as well... ;-)

If you are not familiar with Stock Charades here's an overview of the rules:

I attempt to recreate a scene or illustration from some sort of visual, pop culture reference (in this case something from the world of Shadowrun) and YOU attempt to guess which one.

Two guesses per person, and you have to be specific; e.g. name the book and where in the book it appears or name the artist and give enough detail to show that you know the image, or provide a link if an image of the original is available on the web.

I try to get the pose, costume and lighting as close as possible with the understanding that I do not have the ability to build complete sets, grow pointy ears or change my gender. ;-) :D

The first person to guess the source of the image, as documented by the date/time stamp of your comment or note, is the winner.

"And what do I win," you ask? Each winner will receive the satisfaction of knowing that you know so much about this sort of thing that the black helicopters are even now circling over head preparing to snatch you and test you for alien DNA. Also, if we should ever meet in the real world I will buy you the coffee beverage of your choice. But wait, there's more: at the end of this special Stock Charade series the person with the most wins will receive something from my personal collection of Shadowrun swag. (In the event of a tie the winner will be decided via random drawing.)

** Shadowrun Image Disclaimer **
Shadowrun is a game about fantasy races and creatures in a cyberpunk future where magic works. That sentence alone should excuse anything you may see depicted in these pictures.

In case that is not enough for you, however, please understand that we all know that people in the real world who know what they are doing do not use swords, guns, bows, magic arrows, ropes, technology, clothing, keyboards, et cetera in the ways depicted here. Our disregard of reality and proper technique is quite intentional.

Holy cow.

I JUST started getting into Shadowrun and am actually in the process of doing an illustrative collage of characters from a 2-person campaign I'm using to test the waters. I did a search for a male holding a gun stock image and the moment I saw this photo I KNEW I had to use it for my illustration, regardless of the fact that it's posed after an existing Shadowrun pose :P

I'll be linking you to the sketch when it's finished and then the final product when that's done too. I just wanted to say great job on the pose :D

Hey there! Thanks so much for the note. This series was a lot of fun to work on. Funny that you should mention it, as I've been thinking about doing some more based on SR archetypes. I'm glad that it might be useful to you. Best of luck with your game, and with your artwork. Be well.

Despite being banned from the competition, this is such a badass pose! Wonderfully dynamic and looks like a frame from a gritty graphic novel or movie poster :D But then again, that's half your work!

Yay for Shadowrun!

Quick question, what kind of lighting do you use for these? Do you just use regular lights you've got around the house?

For these rather extreme contrast pics I use one cheap utility light ( [link] ) with a 100W GE Reveal bulb ([link]) .

It is the pic of the elfish, female chamaeleon archetype, from the sr 3 edition core rule book?

But I am too slow, again, I guess. ^^

Great picture, I especially like the tattoos.
