New Contest: DS2 Designs - Winners

Thu Apr 9, 2009, 6:26 PM
* My sincere apologies, folks. A couple people asked for an extension on this contest back when it was ending and, in the rush of things since, I completely forgot to un-extend it. Sorry about that.

So, without further ado - the winners...*

Jade's Stock Photo Request Policy:
----------------------------------------
As of March 2008, the only stock photos I will produce will be requests. If you need something specific for a project, I'd love to hear your pitch. To clarify, I'm not looking for ideas (I've got plenty of those), I am interested in collaborating with serious artists who need specific images or references. Please see this journal entry for complete details: [link]

Jade's Stock Usage Boilerplate
-----------------------------------
The rule of thumb with my stock is: (Almost) No Rules. Do whatever non-commercial thing you want with them. If you need them to help you make a little scratch that's great, just contact me so we can work something out. Thank you.

I can help provide the 550-cord bracelets. I think I may even have some actual "battle tested" bracelets that I wore during the war.

Well I will definately participate... the ideas are brewing in my head...

Are you talking to me?

My friend, I'm honoured (and touched, if that's not too sappy), but those are heirlooms with too much life and experience woven into them for this. Hold on to them for the right time and place.

oh that's in my field! But ... let me ask .. how can you choose 2 logos? isn't the purpose of a logo to identify a "company" or "event" or DS2 and become the symbol of that said institution? I am not against many symbols for the same product but then they should not be logos, rather illustrations of sorts because otherwise people will not recognize the logo to be associated with the show if it changes every other time they see it?
:iconjademacalla:
Those are valid points, and I definitely agree with you in principal (especially regarding a core 'brand';); but since it is likely that the DS2 concept will end up having different 'divisions' (for lack of a better word, at the moment) we feel that there is a strong chance that those 'divisions' will each benefit from having their own theme or 'feel'. It is true that these may end up being variations on a central theme, but then again they may not. We'll see. Since the core concept of DS2 is diversity we like the idea of potentially expressing that diversity even in our graphic elements.

Great question!

ok well we'll see as you say. I shall work on a logo in my free time ... if I can find any ^^;
:iconshade01:
I'm wondering, can we use your stock in any of the images? Maybe that's a given, but I want to double check.

Remember friend, as you pass by
As you are now, so once was I
As I am now you soon shall be
So prepare for death and follow me

Ohhh snap. This is my kind of contest. Considering one of my jobs was just this, I'm SO in. Time to dust off off my Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator.
