Since the main topics we explore on our new project (see below) are generally not directly related to dA stuff, I don't plan to cross-post often. But in light of that fact that so many of the great artists here use swords and knives in their artwork, I thought this would be a valuable reference. So, from Dangerously Cool:
A couple years ago I was doing some research on a particular type of sword (the Schiavona, if memory serves) when I stumbled upon the incredible resource that is myArmoury.com.
If you have any interest at all in European swords you'll want to bookmark this site in at least three different ways. Aside from the excellent photographs and exhaustive descriptions of each blade in their database, there are hundreds (yes hundreds) of well-researched articles as well as detailed hands-on reviews.
And as an added bonus, the site features the Weapon Comparison Tool. You can choose up to 5 blades from the site's extensive database and see them side-by-side to compare features and overall size. Very cool, and a great resource.
If you happen to like this type of thing (and the rest of the topics mentioned below), we hope you'll check out Dangerously Cool .

About ][ Dangerously Cool
Guns, blades, crazy people, fast vehicles, dangerous places; what else?
Hi Folks,
Whether you are an artist who has an interest in these things solely for the sake of your art or you are a nut who enjoys edgy stuff first hand, I wanted to let you know about a brand new project of mine.
It's a news/lifestyle web journal and web-based video program (along with a community site) called 'Dangerously Cool' [link] and it deals only with stuff that fits that general description; weapons, fast vehicles, crazy people, training, places that your mom wouldn't want you to visit - you get the idea.
So far, it is a written web journal, but we are already in production on the new show.
The main difference between ][DC (as we call it, or just ][ ) and DS2 is that where DS2 is broader and promotes doing all sorts of interesting stuff, ][DC is very specifically focused on cool stuff with an edge.
I look forward to seeing you over there, if you are so inclined. And I would love to hear your ideas for future posts and shows.
More soon. Be Well.

Jade's Stock Photo Request Policy:
----------------------------------------
As of March 2008, the only stock photos I will produce will be requests. If you need something specific for a project, I'd love to hear your pitch. To clarify, I'm not looking for ideas (I've got plenty of those), I am interested in collaborating with serious artists who need specific images or references. Please see this journal entry for complete details: [link]

Jade's Stock Usage Boilerplate
-----------------------------------
The rule of thumb with my stock is: (Almost) No Rules. Do whatever non-commercial thing you want with them. If you need them to help you make a little dough that's great, just contact me so we can work something out. Thank you.

On a (sort of) related topic, what are your thoughts on the Stig possibly being outed?
